When not doing heavy processing, there is no real point in having a cpu running at. The 2.66 GHz will top out at around 3 GHz and the 2.93 will top out at around 3.33GHz - so they are faster. These processors have a turbo boost functionality that can adapative overclock the processors. Also, Geekbench 2 only measures processor and memory performance which is why models with the same processors but different video cards have roughly the same score. 1) The new Mac Pro uses Nahelem 5500 series Xeon processors. If you’re unfamiliar with Geekbench and how it measures performance, a score of 1000 is the score a Power Mac G5 1.6GHz would receive. I’ve reported the average overall score for each model and processor combination. Results were collected from the Geekbench Browser for Macs with standard processors (i.e., no processor upgrades or overclocked processors).

I’ve gathered results for the latest iMacs and Mac minis and compared them against previous generations (note that results for some hardware configurations aren’t available yet I’ll update the post when they are available). Ive reported the average overall score for each model and processor combination.

Scores were collected from the Geekbench Browser for Mac Pros with standard processors (i.e., no processor upgrades, overclocked processors, or Hackintoshes). Itd be a true understatement to say that the software has come a long way in all of that time, so lets honor. Considering Blender 2.0 released in August 2000, you could say that this moment is a bit special. With the release of Blender 2.93, the 2.X era comes to an end.
#OVERCLOCK MAC PRO 2.93 PROCESSOR UPGRADE#
Now that Geekbench results are coming in for the new iMac and Mac mini, we can look at one aspect of the updated hardware – processor performance – and see if the upgrade is incremental or substantial. Ive gathered Geekbench scores for the all of the Mac Pros that Apple has released. Techgage: Blender 2.93 Rendering & Viewport Performance: Best CPUs & GPUs. Overclocking a notebook, let alone a Mac, is not a productive endeavor, except to push the limits simply for limits’ sake. Heat sinks, processors, motherboards these are things that can be easily replaced in conventional PC towers that cannot be with any degree of ease in a notebook. However, a lot of people were disappointed with the updates, since it felt like an incremental update rather than a substantial upgrade. If you overclock, you should be prepared for the worst. This update had been a long time coming, especially since the Mac Pro hadn’t been updated since January 2008 and the Mac mini hadn’t been updated since August 2007! Yesterday, Apple updated its entire desktop lineup.
